Spurs, Warriors and Hawks Monitor Options if Giannis Antetokounmpo Becomes Available

The possibility of a future Giannis Antetokounmpo trade is prompting several NBA clubs to examine their assets, according to reporting from Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
San Antonio Spurs
Fischer reports that San Antonio has maintained regular contact with Antetokounmpo’s U.S.-based agent, Alex Saratsis, over the past several years. Those conversations have focused on potential front-office opportunities for the two-time MVP, an uncommon link that has fueled speculation about long-range plans.
Even so, league sources told Fischer the Spurs are unwilling to discuss trading top prospects Dylan Harper or Stephon Castle under any circumstances, including a hypothetical attempt to land Antetokounmpo. Both players are viewed internally as core building blocks.
Golden State Warriors
Golden State has consistently drawn a hard line in trade talks, refusing to package Jonathan Kuminga and Brandin Podziemski together and keeping Draymond Green off limits, Fischer writes. However, the Warriors would be prepared to revisit those positions if Antetokounmpo were to hit the market. While no move is considered imminent, team officials are expected to at least listen should Milwaukee solicit offers.
Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks may hold one of the most valuable chips in any potential bidding war: the 2026 first-round pick they obtained from the New Orleans Pelicans. According to Fischer, the Bucks would covet control of both their own and the Pelicans’ selections in that draft. Despite the appeal, Atlanta executives have repeatedly told Fischer they have no intention of moving the “most favorable” 2026 pick. Nonetheless, sources acknowledge the organization would have to weigh the option if it meant acquiring a player of Antetokounmpo’s stature.
No formal trade talks involving Antetokounmpo are currently known, but front offices around the league are positioning themselves in case the opportunity arises.
