INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers have engaged several clubs about guard Bennedict Mathurin as they hunt for a starting-caliber center, league sources told Hoops Wire. The Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Brooklyn Nets, New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams that have inquired.

Indiana is willing to part with the 22-year-old scorer to rebalance its roster, the sources said. Mathurin, drafted sixth overall in 2022, is viewed as a key asset that could headline a package for a frontcourt upgrade.

Brooklyn Nets

Cam Thomas is also on the market as Brooklyn tries to secure value before the guard reaches unrestricted free agency this summer. The Nets are pitching Thomas’ instant offense—he is regarded as a “microwave” scorer who can ignite a bench unit—while acknowledging questions about his defense and playmaking.

Brooklyn is open to offers from teams seeking additional scoring punch for a postseason run, according to the report.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers have quietly floated second-year wing Dalton Knecht along with expiring contracts in search of a rotation piece, but interest has been described as tepid. Knecht is averaging 7.7 points while shooting 36.4 percent from three-point range after being selected No. 17 overall in the 2024 draft.

With limited traction on the trade front, Los Angeles remains in a familiar position: willing to include young talent yet awaiting a compelling offer.
