Dec. 12, 2023 — NBA trade chatter is intensifying on several fronts, with the Mavericks, Clippers and Bucks all drawing interest from rival clubs.

Mavericks open to Gafford discussions

League sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania that Dallas is willing to move center Daniel Gafford if the right proposal surfaces. Jake Fischer of The Stein Line linked that stance directly to Indiana’s hunt for a long-term big man.

The Pacers view Gafford as a pick-and-roll partner for injured All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton, Fischer reported. Gafford signed a three-year, $54 million extension during the summer, but the contract structure keeps him fully trade-eligible. Indiana can match salary with forward Obi Toppin or bundle Bennedict Mathurin and Tony Bradley, and the Pacers still control all of their own first-round picks.

Clippers, CAA seek new home for Chris Paul

Fischer added that the Clippers are working with Paul’s representatives at CAA to find a landing spot for the 38-year-old guard, who becomes trade-eligible on Dec. 15. After seeing his minutes drop, Paul is now expected to prioritize playing time over geography, according to the report.

Outside of Paul, the Clippers are not planning major roster changes. Both Fischer and Sam Amick of The Athletic indicated that Ivica Zubac, James Harden and Kawhi Leonard are unlikely to be moved. Amick noted on Run It Back that owner Steve Ballmer’s “borderline insane addiction” to the current core could keep the group intact through the deadline.

Warriors revisit interest in Myles Turner

Rival executives are also tracking Milwaukee in case the Bucks decide to reshape the roster around Giannis Antetokounmpo. Fischer reported that Golden State may revisit its long-standing interest in Bucks center Myles Turner while gauging trade possibilities for forward Jonathan Kuminga. The Warriors previously explored packages that included Kuminga, Buddy Hield and Andrew Wiggins when Turner was with Indiana.

For now, no move is considered imminent, but Turner is viewed as a veteran who could become available if Milwaukee elects to retool.
