Sacramento, Dallas and Detroit are approaching the trade deadline from very different angles, according to multiple league reports.

Kings weighing multi-player offers for Sabonis

The Sacramento Kings have continued to test interest in All-Star center Domantas Sabonis, holding detailed talks with the Toronto Raptors, league insider James Ham reported. Discussions have focused on three-for-one or four-for-one scenarios. Any Toronto package would likely be built around RJ Barrett and could also feature Ochai Agbaji and Gradey Dick, Ham added. Sacramento is also believed to covet rookie Collin Murray-Boyles, though sources say the Raptors are reluctant to include him.

HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto likewise heard Barrett’s and Agbaji’s names repeatedly linked to Sabonis talks, suggesting Toronto has at least explored the possibility. No agreement is considered close, but Sacramento remains among the league’s most active teams ahead of the deadline.

Mavericks adjust stance on Anthony Davis, eye cap relief

Earlier in the season, the Dallas Mavericks sought either several first-round picks or one premium player in conversations about Anthony Davis, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported. That price found no takers, and Davis’ recent hand injury—expected to sideline him through the deadline—further clouds the chances of a deal.

A trade before the buzzer now appears unlikely unless Dallas drops its request to one substantial asset plus matching salary. With no immediate pressure, the Mavericks could revisit options in the offseason.

In the meantime, Dallas is expected to prioritize shedding future salary. Contracts held by Klay Thompson, Daniel Gafford and D’Angelo Russell are viewed internally as possible candidates to be turned into expiring money, potentially improving the club’s 2026-27 cap outlook.

Pistons content to wait

The Detroit Pistons are not planning dramatic changes before the deadline, according to Hunter Patterson of The Athletic. The team has not engaged in talks involving veteran forward Tobias Harris, whom head coach J.B. Bickerstaff calls his “security blanket.”

Detroit still holds a $14 million trade exception, but because it remains usable until July, the front office faces little urgency this week. Any significant roster tweaks are more likely to materialize during the summer.
