NEW YORK — Speculation around a possible Giannis Antetokounmpo trade continues to build, with league observers pointing to the Brooklyn Nets, Miami Heat and several other franchises as potential suitors should the Milwaukee Bucks star ever seek a move.

Nets watching but timeline complicates pursuit

Brian Lewis of the New York Post has reported that Brooklyn would “love a crack” at the two-time MVP. The Nets, however, are deep into a roster overhaul, prioritizing draft position and lacking a clear young cornerstone who could be paired with Antetokounmpo. While the organization would listen if the opportunity arose, Lewis noted that the current fit is “far from clean” if the forward becomes available in the near term.

Heat interested, but Bam Adebayo off limits

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel wrote that Miami would “obviously” explore a deal for Antetokounmpo, yet made it clear the club will not include Bam Adebayo in any offer, calling that notion a “non-starter.” Winderman questioned whether the Heat possess enough remaining assets to craft a compelling package, especially after sending a first-round pick to Charlotte for Terry Rozier. The move came before the team learned Rozier was under investigation for unusual betting activity, and if the league declines to grant relief, Miami’s trade flexibility could shrink further.

League-wide hypotheticals

An ESPN panel recently outlined five theoretical trades that would send Antetokounmpo to the Hawks, Rockets, Knicks, Spurs and Warriors. The exercise was described as speculative rather than indicative of imminent negotiations, illustrating the broad interest that would emerge if Milwaukee opened discussions.

Antetokounmpo, 29, is under contract with the Bucks through the 2026-27 season, including a player option for the final year. Milwaukee has not signaled any intention to move its franchise centerpiece.
