The Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans each completed low-cost roster moves as training camp approaches.
Timberwolves
Minnesota re-signed guard Bones Hyland to a one-year contract that carries a $425,000 partial guarantee, according to HoopsHype. Hyland, who turned 25 last weekend, finished last season with the Timberwolves after being waived by the Atlanta Hawks. The former Denver Nuggets first-round pick appeared in four games for Minnesota and previously averaged 10.9 points per outing as a rookie with Denver. Timberwolves president Tim Connelly, who drafted Hyland while leading the Nuggets’ front office, is considered a long-time supporter. Hyland will enter camp competing for a backcourt role on a roster that still has openings and salary-cap room beneath the first apron.
Knicks
The Knicks signed undrafted rookies Bryson Warren and Dink Pate to non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contracts. Both players are expected to land with the organization’s G League affiliate in Westchester, where Exhibit 10 language allows a bonus if they remain at least 60 days. Pate, 19, played last season for the G League’s Mexico City Capitanes, while Warren, 20, spent two years with Sioux Falls, the Miami Heat’s affiliate.
Pelicans
New Orleans added rookie forward Jalon Moore on a training-camp agreement, the league’s transaction log shows. The 24-year-old was projected as a potential second-round pick before tearing his Achilles during a pre-draft workout with the San Antonio Spurs. Moore averaged 15.9 points and 5.8 rebounds for Oklahoma last season and was regarded as one of the Big 12’s top shooting forwards. Although he is expected to miss the entire 2024-25 season, the Pelicans could sign-and-waive him to secure his G League rights for 2026-27.
