The NBA has postponed Sunday’s matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum because severe winter weather kept the Mavericks grounded in Texas.
Dallas Morning News reporter Brad Townsend said the Mavericks remained on their charter plane for several hours at Dallas Love Field while crews attempted to de-ice the aircraft. As of 1:30 p.m. CT, the plane was still undergoing de-icing, leaving the club unable to reach Milwaukee in time for the scheduled tipoff.
League officials will announce a new date for the game. Multiple reporters, including Townsend, indicated that Feb. 19—shortly after the All-Star break—is the leading option, although the NBA has not confirmed the date. Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.com noted that moving the contest to Monday was briefly considered but ultimately ruled out.
After the postponement became official, the Mavericks disembarked and returned home, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line. The Bucks were already in Milwaukee preparing for the game.
This is the second NBA contest pushed back on Sunday because of a major winter storm sweeping across North America. Earlier in the day, the league rescheduled the Denver Nuggets–Memphis Grizzlies game in Memphis under similar circumstances.
