San Antonio, TX — Veteran center Bismack Biyombo has reached a one-year agreement with the San Antonio Spurs, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the contract is non-guaranteed.

Biyombo, 33, rejoined the Spurs in March and immediately entered the starting lineup, making 26 starts in 28 appearances. He averaged 5.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and shot nearly 59 percent from the field. With Victor Wembanyama entrenched at center and free-agent addition Luke Kornet also on the depth chart, Biyombo is expected to slide into a reserve role.

Now entering his 15th NBA season, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2011 draft has suited up for seven franchises. San Antonio currently sits at the offseason limit of 21 players; a release — potentially guard Isaiah Miller, who signed a camp deal last week — will be required before Biyombo’s contract becomes official.

Schroder Credits Nowitzki for Germany’s Rise

Toronto Raptors guard Dennis Schroder, fresh off a run that includes 2023 FIBA World Cup gold and both gold (2024) and bronze (2022) medals at EuroBasket, said Germany’s recent success would not be possible without trailblazer Dirk Nowitzki.

“Dirk, what he’s been doing for the German national team and what he’s done in the NBA made us come to the national team and represent our country,” Schroder told BasketNews. Still, the 30-year-old guard noted, “At the end of the day, my name is Dennis Schroder. That’s my legacy.”

Nets Reach Deal with Center David Muoka

The Brooklyn Nets have signed 6-foot-10 center David Muoka, per the league’s transaction log. Terms were not announced, but an Exhibit 10 contract is considered the most likely structure.

Muoka averaged 10.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last season with the Windy City Bulls of the G League after collegiate stops at Lamar University and UNLV. He spent last fall in Portland’s training camp on an Exhibit 10 deal.

Brooklyn now has 21 players under contract for training camp, though agreements with Ricky Council IV and Grant Nelson still await formal completion.
