PHILADELPHIA — The 76ers have re-signed center Charles Bassey to a second 10-day contract, according to the NBA’s official transactions log. The 25-year-old, originally drafted by Philadelphia with the 53rd pick in 2021, has not yet appeared in an NBA game this season but is averaging 19 points and 11 rebounds for the G League’s Santa Cruz Warriors. His return supplies short-term depth to a frontcourt that remains in flux.

Bassey opened the season on an Exhibit 10 contract with Atlanta after a strong Summer League showing for Boston, was waived before Opening Night, then logged two appearances with Memphis on a hardship 10-day deal in January.

Celtics convert Amari Williams

BOSTON — The Celtics are elevating two-way forward Amari Williams to the standard roster, Marc Stein reported. The 46th pick in last June’s draft has agreed to a two-year contract worth a reported $2.7 million. Because the rookie minimum over two seasons totals $2.64 million, Boston is expected to dip slightly into its taxpayer mid-level exception to complete the signing.

The 6-foot-11 Williams has played 13 NBA games (two starts), averaging 1.7 points and 2.1 rebounds. He has been more productive with the G League’s Maine Celtics, posting 15.3 points, 11.3 boards, 5.0 assists and 1.7 blocks per contest. Boston’s decision to trade Chris Boucher to Utah opened a rotation spot that cleared the way for the promotion.

Nuggets clear tax line, deal Tyson to Nets

DENVER — In a cost-cutting move, the Nuggets have sent rookie forward Hunter Tyson and a 2032 second-round pick to the Nets for the least favorable of the Clippers’ or Hawks’ 2026 second-rounders, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. The transaction drops Denver below the luxury-tax threshold and creates a $2.2 million trade exception.

The trade also opens a second roster slot. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Denver intends to promote two-way forward Spencer Jones to a standard contract, while Bennett Durando of The Denver Post added that the club plans to remain active in the buyout market.

Tyson, 25, was selected 37th overall in the 2023 draft but struggled to find consistent minutes with the defending champions.
