DENVER — The Denver Nuggets have converted forward Spencer Jones from a two-way deal to a standard NBA contract, keeping him on the roster through the end of the season. The 24-year-old will earn the veteran minimum and enter restricted free agency in July after opting against a longer, team-friendly agreement.

“I kind of wanted the optionality,” Jones said, choosing flexibility over multiple guaranteed years. The conversion removes the 50-game limit and postseason ineligibility tied to two-way contracts, giving Denver the option to evaluate him in both the regular season and playoffs while the open market helps determine his long-term value.

Thunder Battle Short-Handed

In Detroit on Wednesday, Oklahoma City played without Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein and several others but still pushed the Pistons before falling short. Second-year center Jaylin Williams posted a career-best 30 points and 11 rebounds, prompting head coach Mark Daigneault to label the effort “unreal.” Despite the loss, the performance offered encouragement for the playoff-bound Thunder.

Injuries Shift Blazers’ Focus to Scoot Henderson

Portland faces new responsibilities for rookie guard Scoot Henderson after injuries sidelined forward Deni Avdija and may keep guard Shaedon Sharpe out as well. Henderson has reached double figures in eight consecutive games since returning from a hamstring strain, momentum that could influence offseason extension discussions. The Trail Blazers continue to rely on the 20-year-old as they navigate the final stretch of the campaign.
