ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Magic continue to limit guard Jalen Suggs as he returns from the left knee surgery that ended his 2022-23 season in March. Through seven games, the third-year guard is logging just 19.6 minutes per night.

Head coach Jamahl Mosley said Friday that there is no timetable for lifting the restriction. “You’d like to try and ramp him up a little bit more, but you want to be careful for the long haul of the season, being smart with it,” Mosley told reporters. “The more we can get his minutes up, the better it’ll be because then there’s a routine and a continuity.”

Despite the light workload, Suggs is averaging 11.0 points and 4.0 assists while shooting 55 percent from the field and 44 percent from three. Orlando is plus-14.5 with him on the floor and minus-5.9 when he sits.

Heat

MIAMI — Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra publicly addressed the fire that destroyed his family’s home early Thursday morning. No one was injured, and the family dog was rescued.

“I just want to thank everybody for this overwhelming support,” Spoelstra said Friday. “The South Florida community has just been absolutely remarkable—people reaching out, wanting to help.” He added that the situation has been “uniquely challenging” but said “Spoelstras are resilient.”

Wizards

WASHINGTON — Rookie forward Bilal Coulibaly missed his second consecutive game Saturday with a left calf contusion. The 19-year-old already sat out the first four games of the season while recovering from thumb surgery.

The NBA also confirmed a scoring correction from Friday’s loss to Cleveland. With 8:15 remaining in the second quarter, rookie guard Tre Johnson’s first of two free throws was mistakenly marked as a miss. The adjustment changed the final box score from 148-114 to 148-115, but it did not affect the result.
