The Knicks will be without center Mitchell Robinson and guard Josh Hart when they begin the season Wednesday against the Cavaliers. Robinson is out for “left ankle management,” while Hart is dealing with lumbar spasms. Coach Mike Brown said the organization is erring on the side of caution with Robinson, noting that load management is part of the plan. “Just because he might be able to play tonight or practice today, that doesn’t mean I’m going to play him,” Brown told reporters.
Forward Karl-Anthony Towns, listed with a strained right quadriceps, is questionable for the opener. He is still adapting to Brown’s uptempo, movement-heavy system after spending years in a slower, half-court offense under Tom Thibodeau. “It’s just different,” Towns said. Brown expressed confidence that Towns will gain comfort once he rotates through the corners, wings, and dunker’s spot.
Denver Nuggets
Keeping two-time MVP Nikola Jokic content remains Denver’s top organizational priority, executive vice president Ben Tenzer said. “We’d be crazy not to listen to his input; he’s a brilliant basketball mind,” Tenzer told The Athletic. The Nuggets revamped their front office during the offseason and have leaned into collaboration to ensure Jokic stays central to both the roster and the franchise’s long-term vision.
San Antonio Spurs
Inside San Antonio’s locker room, forward Keldon Johnson is considered a foundational piece rather than trade bait, coach Mitch Johnson explained. “His role has evolved numerous times, and he’s never wavered in his commitment or enthusiasm to be here,” Johnson said. Once primarily a young scorer, Keldon Johnson has emerged as an emotional leader alongside core talents Victor Wembanyama and Devin Vassell.
