NEW YORK — Jalen Brunson could return to the New York Knicks lineup as early as Wednesday after progressing from a Grade 1 ankle sprain suffered last week.

Knicks

The All-Star guard was seen taking jump shots Monday at Kaseya Center in Miami, according to the New York Daily News. The Knicks have now listed him as questionable for Wednesday’s home game against the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Post reported. Brunson has missed two straight contests, both against the Miami Heat.

Center Mitchell Robinson, slowly ramping up after his own injury absence, played under 20 minutes Monday but is expected to see additional time on the floor. “It’s gone up three times,” head coach Mike Brown told reporters. “He could’ve played 27 minutes.”

USA Basketball

USA Basketball on Tuesday announced a 12-player squad for the first two qualifying windows for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, scheduled for November 28 in Managua, Nicaragua, and December 1 in College Park, Georgia.

The roster features several NBA veterans: Kyle Guy, Brandon Knight, Jaden Shackelford, Javonte Smart, Ryan Woolridge, Pedro Bradshaw, Nate Hinton, MarJon Beauchamp, Torrey Craig, Kessler Edwards, Garrison Brooks and Jeremiah Tilmon. Seven members have NBA experience, led by Craig (458 career games) and Knight (451). Former Houston Rockets head coach Stephen Silas will oversee the team.

Cavaliers

The NBA fined the Cleveland Cavaliers $100,000 for violating the league’s player participation policy by resting Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley during a November 12 game in Miami. Both qualify as “star” players under league rules, triggering an automatic review when multiple stars sit for rest in the same game.

A second infraction would increase the penalty to $250,000. Cleveland hosts Kevin Durant and the rising Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
