Salt Lake City — The Utah Jazz removed rookie forward Ace Bailey from Monday’s preseason game because of tendonitis in both knees, head coach Will Hardy said. Hardy called the condition “nothing we’re overly concerned with” and said no imaging is planned, describing the move as purely precautionary.

Bailey, 19, had started each of Utah’s first three preseason contests, scoring 25 and 20 points before logging just 10 minutes Monday. The 6-foot-9 lottery pick is expected to be a cornerstone of the franchise’s rebuild, and the club intends to keep monitoring his workload.

Thunder Shuffle Two-Way Options

Oklahoma City — The Thunder signed sharpshooter Buddy Boeheim and waived forward Payton Sandfort. Boeheim, 25, appeared in 20 games for the Detroit Pistons from 2022–24 and averaged 12.5 points while shooting 37.7 percent from three for the G League’s Oklahoma City Blue last season.

The former Syracuse standout is expected to return to the Blue on an Exhibit 10 deal that can be converted into an $85,300 bonus if he remains with the affiliate for at least 60 days. Sandfort is anticipated to join the Blue as an affiliate player.

Nets Reach Off-Season Limit With Two Signings

Brooklyn — The Nets added guards Terry Roberts and Tre Scott, bringing their off-season roster back to the 21-player limit. Both players are believed to have signed Exhibit 10 contracts that could translate into G League bonuses with the Long Island Nets.

Roberts, undrafted out of Georgia in 2023, recovered from a stray-bullet chest wound last year and averaged 6.7 points and 5.2 assists in 31 games for Long Island. Scott, a 6-foot-8 forward who has spent time in the G League, overseas and briefly with the Cleveland Cavaliers, posted 11.6 points and 7.1 rebounds for Long Island last season.
