The NBA’s Friday schedule could see one star return while two others remain sidelined. Charlotte guard LaMelo Ball is listed as probable for the Hornets’ visit to Milwaukee, Philadelphia center Joel Embiid will miss a second consecutive game with knee soreness, and Golden State forward Jonathan Kuminga is questionable for a rematch in San Antonio.

Hornets

Ball has been out for five games because of a right ankle impingement. Head coach Charles Lee said the 22-year-old completed G League practice work earlier this week, calling it a significant step toward returning to game action. Before the injury, Ball averaged 23.3 points, 9.8 assists, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting 43 percent over six contests.

Second-year guard KJ Simpson (left AC joint sprain) is also listed as probable, and rookie center Ryan Kalkbrenner will miss the trip for personal reasons.

76ers

The 76ers ruled Embiid out again because of soreness in his right knee, according to PHLY Sports. The reigning MVP has no long-term concern attached to the issue but will not face Detroit on Friday. It marks his second straight absence. Rookie guard VJ Edgecombe is questionable with back spasms.

Warriors

Kuminga’s difficult week continued when Golden State downgraded him to questionable with bilateral knee tendinitis, ESPN reported. The 21-year-old was moved to the bench for Wednesday’s loss in San Antonio, where he logged a season-low 12 minutes before exiting because of the knee problem. Kuminga had started the Warriors’ first 12 games before head coach Steve Kerr adjusted the rotation.
