Charlotte, N.C. — Newly acquired guard Collin Sexton has quickly become one of the most vocal figures in the Charlotte Hornets locker room, head coach Charles Lee said this week. The 26-year-old, obtained from Utah during the offseason, enters the final season of his contract at nearly $19 million and said he is focused on “being where my feet are.” Sexton added that he has already forged bonds with LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller as the trio works to establish a long-term foundation in Charlotte.

Nets

The Brooklyn Nets will be without forward Haywood Highsmith for approximately two months after post-surgery swelling developed in his right knee. The team said the 27-year-old will be reevaluated in eight weeks while his rehabilitation plan is adjusted. Highsmith, acquired from Miami this summer, averaged 6.5 points and shot 38 percent from three-point range last season. He is on an expiring $5.6 million contract.

Rockets

Kevin Durant officially signed a two-year, $90 million extension with the Houston Rockets that includes a player option for the 2027-28 season, the club confirmed. Head coach Ime Udoka said the deal underscores a shared long-term vision and applauded Durant for accepting less than the maximum salary to preserve roster flexibility. The contract contains no bonuses or incentives. In addition, Houston expects to finalize a rookie-scale extension with Tari Eason ahead of Monday’s deadline, likely below Jabari Smith Jr.’s five-year, $122 million agreement.
