Several Eastern and Western Conference teams announced roster updates and injury news on Tuesday, highlighting moves by the Cavaliers, Mavericks and Hawks.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Head coach Kenny Atkinson said the arrival of veteran guard James Harden has provided steady leadership alongside Donovan Mitchell. “They’ve kind of hit it off. Been seamless, really,” Atkinson told ESPN’s Jamal Collier.

Mitchell will miss a fourth consecutive game because of a groin strain, while Harden continues to play through a fractured right thumb. Center Jarrett Allen credited Harden’s presence for boosting the team’s confidence, noting that new play designs have helped him “find my rhythm.”

Asked about his long-term plans, Harden acknowledged that retirement is inevitable but said he will “take it one game at a time and cherish the moments.”

Dallas Mavericks

Mavericks coach Jason Kidd welcomed forward Khris Middleton’s decision to decline a buyout. “His ability as a vet to score and to lead is something that’s needed in that locker room,” Kidd told the Dallas Morning News, adding that the team will try to avoid playing the 32-year-old 40 minutes per night.

Dallas waived guard Tyus Jones and converted rookie Ryan Nembhard to a standard NBA contract. “I’m looking forward to building on this,” Nembhard said after the promotion.

Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks are signing rookie guard Keshon Gilbert to a two-way contract, according to The Stein Line. Gilbert averaged 13.7 points and 5.5 assists in the G League and appeared in three NBA games earlier this season. His addition will fill Atlanta’s 18-man roster once the deal becomes official.
