De’Andre Hunter could remain a reserve in Cleveland despite spending most of his NBA career as a starter. The 26-year-old forward opened just nine of his 64 appearances last season, which he split between the Atlanta Hawks and the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to a report by Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, the Cavaliers are inclined to keep Hunter in a sixth-man role now that guard Ty Jerome has moved to the Memphis Grizzlies. Hunter averaged 17.0 points in 27.2 minutes, giving Cleveland a proven scorer for its second unit.

Fedor added that although Hunter may possess more raw talent than fellow small forward Max Strus, his playing style fits better with the reserves, where he enjoys greater offensive freedom. The approach would also balance the starting lineup while supplying instant offense off the bench.

Pistons Maintain Cap Flexibility

In Detroit, president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon continues to prioritize future maneuverability. Keith Langlois of Pistons.com noted that the club added shooters Duncan Robinson and Caris LeVert to bolster the bench without compromising long-term salary space. Rookie-scale extensions for guards Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren remain possible before the October deadline, but only if the financial terms align with their current production levels.

Buzelis Emerging in Chicago

Second-year forward Matas Buzelis is quickly becoming central to the Chicago Bulls’ plans, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported. With contract questions surrounding guards Coby White and Josh Giddey, Buzelis has taken on a larger workload. He averaged 22.5 points and 5.0 rebounds over two Summer League contests and has been building strength in the weight room while broadening his skill set on the court.
