Bulls improve to 3-0
The Chicago Bulls posted a 128-123 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, giving the club its best opening since the 2021-22 season. Guard Ayo Dosunmu knocked down 4-of-6 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points, while center Nikola Vučević came within one assist of a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, 17 rebounds and nine assists.
Across the league, Josh Giddey continued his early surge. The third-year guard delivered 18 points, 13 rebounds and five assists and is now averaging 19.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists through three games while shooting 41.6 percent from deep, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.
Maxey, Edgecombe fuel 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers climbed to 3-0 by defeating the Orlando Magic 136-124. Tyrese Maxey erupted for 43 points, and rookie backcourt partner VJ Edgecombe added 26. The duo combined for 69 points and 15 assists.
Per StatsWilliams, their combined 186 points through three games mark the highest total by a starting backcourt to open a season since the NBA began tracking starters in 1970-71. Orlando forward Paolo Banchero had 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the loss, dropping the Magic to 1-3.
Wembanyama leads 4-0 Spurs
Victor Wembanyama powered the San Antonio Spurs to a 4-0 mark with a win over the Toronto Raptors, posting 24 points, 15 rebounds, two steals and a block. Rookie guard Stephon Castle scored 22, Harrison Barnes added 18 points and five assists, and Devin Vassell contributed 15 points, five boards and five assists.
First-year forward Dylan Harper supplied 11 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Julian Champagnie finished with nine points and nine boards. San Antonio finished plus-13 at the free-throw line and is off to its best start since the 2019-20 campaign.
