Bucks
ESPN’s midseason report card describes Milwaukee’s season as unraveling quickly. Giannis Antetokounmpo has missed 14 games, during which the Bucks posted a 3-11 record. More troubling for the club, the report notes that Milwaukee has been outscored even when its two-time MVP is on the floor.
The rotation is labeled “thin” and “inconsistent,” leaning on players who have not produced at a playoff level. With no clear trade-deadline solution, the Bucks are currently fighting to remain in the Eastern Conference play-in picture rather than planning for a deep postseason run.
Hawks
Atlanta received a D-minus from ESPN, though the outlet suggests the timing of the evaluation could make the grade appear harsher. The report states that the Trae Young era ended with the team going 2-7 in his final nine appearances, followed by immediate improvement in overall stability once he was moved.
Early assessments of newcomers CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert remain incomplete, but the piece emphasizes the emergence of Jalen Johnson. Johnson has assumed the primary offensive role when Young has been absent and has delivered across statistical categories. While the record still trails preseason expectations, the Hawks have at least gained roster clarity.
Cavaliers
ESPN characterizes Cleveland’s situation as “jarring.” Only Oklahoma City carried a higher projected win total entering the season, yet the Cavaliers are now scrambling to stay in the East’s top tier. Injuries have played a part: Darius Garland missed significant early time and has not fully regained form after toe surgery, and Max Strus was sidelined for an extended stretch.
Continuity has been scarce. Cleveland has logged just 11 games with its preferred starting lineup (excluding Strus) available, finishing 7-4 in those contests—respectable but far from dominant. After topping the conference a year ago, the Cavs are currently focused on securing home-court advantage for the opening playoff round.
