INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers have signed veteran guard Cameron Payne to a training-camp contract and released Delon Wright, the club announced.
Payne, 30, appeared in 72 games for the New York Knicks last season, averaging 6.9 points and 2.8 assists while shooting 36 percent from three-point range. The 14th overall pick in the 2015 draft has played for seven franchises across nine NBA seasons. His deal with Indiana is a camp invitation, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Wright’s stint with the Pacers ends after just four preseason minutes. The 31-year-old guard, signed to an Exhibit 9 agreement in late September, left that lone appearance following a head-to-head collision. Since entering the league in 2015, Wright has suited up for 10 teams.
Bulls Sign — and Waive — Kevin Knox
CHICAGO — Transaction logs show the Chicago Bulls have both added and waived forward Kevin Knox. The move is tied to an Exhibit 10 contract designed to steer him to the Windy City Bulls of the NBA G League. If the 26-year-old remains with the affiliate for at least 60 days, he can earn a bonus of up to $85,300.
Knox divided the 2023-24 campaign between the NBA and G League, producing 25.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for Santa Cruz while appearing in 14 contests for Golden State. Drafted ninth overall by New York in 2018, he has logged 320 NBA games with six organizations.
Chicago’s roster now stands at 19 players, so no additional move was required.
Pelicans Ink Hunter, Oduro to Camp Deals
NEW ORLEANS — The Pelicans have reached Exhibit 10 agreements with Chase Hunter and Josh Oduro, according to Spotrac’s Keith Smith.
Hunter wrapped up a six-year career at Clemson by earning first-team All-ACC honors, posting 16.5 points per game and knocking down 40.7 percent of his three-point attempts. Oduro spent last season with the Birmingham Squadron, the Pelicans’ G League affiliate, where he averaged 11.4 points and 8.2 rebounds across 44 games.
Both players are expected to be waived before the regular season and return to Birmingham. Each could collect a bonus of up to $85,300 if they stay with the Squadron for 60 days.
