NBA Probes Giannis-Bucks Standoff as Central Division Faces Potential Shake-ups

Milwaukee, WI — The NBA released a statement Saturday confirming its ongoing investigation into a dispute between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks over his playing status.

Antetokounmpo has been out since March 15 with a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise. The two-time MVP insists he is healthy enough to play, while team physicians have refused to clear him, claiming the knee has not fully healed.

According to the league, Milwaukee scheduled Antetokounmpo for three-on-three scrimmages last week as part of his return-to-play protocol, but he declined to participate. The NBA added that there is disagreement over whether the club requested another group workout earlier this week and said it “continues to monitor the situation.”

A source told The Athletic that league officials have already spoken with Bucks executives. Antetokounmpo forcefully reiterated his desire to suit up during a post-game interview following Friday’s loss to Boston, but with only five regular-season games left, time is running short even if clearance is granted.

Bucks Could Explore Major Off-Season Moves

HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reported that trading Antetokounmpo this summer could kick off a sweeping roster overhaul in Milwaukee. Veteran forwards Bobby Portis, Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma were mentioned as possible trade candidates, and coach Doc Rivers’ future is reportedly uncertain. Scotto expects the Heat, Warriors, Knicks, Cavaliers and others to approach the Bucks with offers.

Bulls Leadership Under Review

The Chicago Sun-Times, citing a team source, said significant changes could hit the Bulls within the next 10 days. Executive vice president of basketball operations Artūras Karnišovas and general manager Marc Eversley may be held responsible for the club’s disappointing season. A coaching change is also under consideration. Billy Donovan is viewed as a top candidate for the vacant North Carolina job but could remain in Chicago either on the bench or in a revamped front-office role.

Pistons Thrive Despite Injuries

With Cade Cunningham sidelined and Isaiah Stewart nursing a left calf strain, the Detroit Pistons continue to rack up wins as the postseason nears, Hunter Patterson of The Athletic reported. “Obviously, we’re better with Cade, Stew and today Tobias (Harris) on the floor,” center Jalen Duren said. “But getting everyone reps and shots keeps our confidence up heading into the playoffs.”

The Pistons believe a healthy lineup could make them a formidable postseason threat.
