The NBA has issued a $25,000 fine to Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane for forcefully throwing the game ball into the spectator area, the league announced Wednesday.
The incident occurred immediately after Orlando’s 113-112 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena. Following the final horn, Bane launched a full-court throw that sailed over the opposite basket, struck the shot clock, and bounced into fans seated behind the hoop.
This marks Bane’s second league fine of the 2025-26 season. In December, the 27-year-old was docked $35,000 for throwing the ball at New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby in what the NBA labeled an unsportsmanlike act, a play that also resulted in a technical foul. According to Spotrac, Bane has been assessed five additional technical fouls this season, costing him another $12,000.
Bane is in his first year with the Magic after arriving from the Memphis Grizzlies in an offseason blockbuster trade. He is earning $36.7 million this season, meaning the latest penalty represents a small fraction of his salary.
