The NBA has wrapped up its review of the Sacramento Kings and will not impose any fines or other discipline, the league confirmed Friday in a press release.

League officials opened the inquiry after a late-game sequence in Tuesday’s 110-105 loss to the Golden State Warriors. With Sacramento leading 101-100 and 3:15 remaining, head coach Doug Christie ordered an intentional off-ball foul on Warriors guard Seth Curry. Because Golden State was already in the bonus, the move sent Curry—an 86.4% career free-throw shooter—to the line for two shots.

Warriors forward Draymond Green questioned the tactic afterward, calling it behavior typical of a team trying to tank. The Kings countered that Christie simply misread the situation, believing the Warriors were not yet in the penalty and hoping to stop the clock so he could use a timeout that would otherwise expire once the clock dipped below three minutes.

The NBA said its investigation corroborated Sacramento’s account. “Christie mistakenly believed the Warriors were not in the penalty,” the statement noted, adding that there was “no intentional effort to concede a shooting foul or lose the game.”

Curry converted one of two free throws on the play. Sacramento regained the lead on its next possession but ultimately fell 110-105.
