The Orlando Magic spent the summer reshaping their roster around outside shooting and playmaking, headlined by a pre-draft deal for wing Desmond Bane and the free-agent addition of point guard Tyus Jones.
Key Transactions
Trade: Orlando picked up Bane from the Memphis Grizzlies, sending out Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, the No. 16 pick in the 2025 draft, first-rounders in 2026, 2028 and 2030, plus a 2029 pick swap. Memphis is allowed to swap Orlando’s 2026 first for Phoenix’s 2026 pick under specific protections.

Extension for Banchero
Former No. 1 pick Paolo Banchero secured a five-year maximum rookie-scale extension starting in 2026-27. The deal projects to $239.9 million and could rise to $287.9 million if he earns All-NBA, MVP or Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Cap Outlook
The club sits above both the $154.6 million salary cap and the $187.9 million tax line at approximately $193.5 million in committed money, leaving roughly $2.4 million below its $195.945 million hard cap. Unlikely bonuses in Bane’s contract currently prevent the team from adding a 15th standard player. Orlando retains part of the non-taxpayer mid-level exception ($7.1 million) and the full bi-annual exception ($5.13 million).
What’s Next
The Magic hold 14 guaranteed contracts and one open two-way slot. Guard Lester Quinones will arrive on an Exhibit 10 deal for training camp and is expected to compete for that final two-way position. With Banchero, Franz Wagner, Bane and Jalen Suggs locked up through at least 2028-29, Orlando has no further extension business pending before the season.
