Ten-day contracts are available to NBA teams again, opening a window for short-term roster help as the season moves into its second half. The deals became eligible to be signed on Jan. 5 and can be issued until the final day of the regular season.

Under league rules, a team may sign a player to two separate 10-day contracts; a third agreement with the same player must cover the remainder of the season. A 10-day deal lasts either 10 days or three games, whichever comes later.

How much do 10-day contracts pay?

Compensation is tied to the player’s NBA service time, with salaries prorated at 10/174 of the season minimum for each experience level. For 2023-24, the figures are:

• 0 years of service: $64,343
• 1 year: $105,329
• 2 years: $109,318
• 3 years: $114,991
• 4 years: $120,563
• 5 years: $130,394
• 6 years: $140,226
• 7 years: $150,057
• 8 years: $159,890
• 9 years: $180,400
• 10 or more years: $183,071

The league reimburses a portion of salaries for players with three or more years of experience, a measure designed to encourage the signing of veterans without penalizing team payroll flexibility.
