MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota forward/center Naz Reid was limited to five minutes in Saturday’s road loss to San Antonio after experiencing soreness in his left shoulder, the Timberwolves said. The team has not indicated whether the 2024 Sixth Man of the Year will miss additional contests.
Reid, 26, entered the night in peak form, averaging 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.0 steal and 1.0 block while shooting 60.4% from the field and 57.7% beyond the arc over his previous four games (29.8 minutes per game). He started against the Spurs in place of the injured Rudy Gobert.
Bulls’ Giddey Nears Return
The Chicago Bulls assigned guard Josh Giddey to the Windy City Bulls of the G League as he recovers from a left hamstring strain. If Sunday’s practice proceeds without issue, the 22-year-old is expected to rejoin the NBA lineup Tuesday against the Clippers or Thursday at Minnesota, according to the team.
Magic Rest Wagner’s Knee
Orlando ruled out center Moritz Wagner for Sunday’s matchup with Memphis, citing left knee injury management. The German big man appeared in his first game of the season last Sunday after missing most of 2024-25 with a torn ACL in the same knee.
Alvarado, Jones Remain Out for Pelicans
Two New Orleans players frequently mentioned in trade speculation remain sidelined. Guard Jose Alvarado will miss his seventh straight game Sunday in Houston because of a left oblique strain, while forward Herbert Jones will sit out for the 14th time with a right ankle sprain. Jones earned All-Defensive First Team honors in 2023-24.
