Several franchises are preparing for significant personnel decisions once the 2025-26 regular season ends, according to Marc Stein’s latest newsletter.

Bucks Could Separate From Doc Rivers

League sources told Stein there is growing belief that Milwaukee and head coach Doc Rivers, 64, will either split or redefine his duties after a disappointing 31-47 campaign and mounting friction with star Giannis Antetokounmpo. One scenario under discussion would shift Rivers into a front-office post. His August Hall of Fame induction has amplified speculation that he will not return to the sideline.

Former Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins is viewed as a leading candidate if the Bucks launch a search, while reporter Jake Fischer added on X that “a lot of change” is anticipated inside the organization this summer.

Bulls Reviewing Artūras Karnisovas’ Tenure

Chicago ownership is expected to meet soon to determine the future of executive vice president Artūras Karnisovas. The Bulls will miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season and have reached the postseason only once during his stewardship—a first-round loss to Milwaukee in 2022.

Despite that uncertainty, the club hopes to keep head coach Billy Donovan. Chicago refused New York’s request to interview Donovan last summer and later extended him on a multiyear deal. Donovan has surfaced as a possibility for the North Carolina job, but Stein reports he prefers to wait until after the Bulls’ season ends on April 12, while UNC may decide sooner.

Blazers Assessing Tiago Splitter’s Future

In Portland, new owner Tom Dundon is surveying the coaching market before ruling on interim coach Tiago Splitter, who replaced Chauncey Billups following Billups’ arrest early in the season. Stein notes that the league could experience even more coaching turnover this offseason than it did a year ago, and Splitter’s status remains fluid.

The regular season concludes April 12, leaving front offices a narrow window to finalize decisions before the draft and free agency.
