CLEVELAND — Donovan Mitchell says he has no reservations about teaming up with newly arrived guard James Harden as the Cleveland Cavaliers navigate a revamped backcourt on the fly.
Speaking to Marc J. Spears of Andscape, the All-Star guard emphasized that his focus is solely on winning, not on how roles will sort themselves out alongside Harden.
“I’ve never played with a guy like James Harden,” Mitchell said. “We’re not here to figure out who’s bigger or better. How are we going to win? Winning is the end all.”
The early results support Mitchell’s confidence. Cleveland is 3-0 since acquiring Harden and 4-0 since also adding Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis. The club has won 10 of its last 11 overall and owns a league-best 17-5 mark since Dec. 29.
The Cavaliers (34-21) return from the All-Star break on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, then visit the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.
