Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges reiterated on Monday that he would prefer to stay with the franchise beyond this season’s trade deadline, telling the Charlotte Observer he is ignoring the annual buzz surrounding his future.

“I’d rather be here,” Bridges said when asked about ongoing speculation as the deadline approaches. “Just focus on winning, focus on controlling what I can control.”

The 25-year-old acknowledged that potential deals are out of his hands, adding that head of basketball operations Jeff Peterson would notify him if a move were imminent. “I don’t try to worry about that. I just worry about the games,” he said.

Several contending teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns, have reportedly expressed interest in the productive forward, who is playing on a team-friendly contract. Despite the outside attention, Bridges said he wants to continue developing alongside LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and the rest of Charlotte’s young core.

“Yeah, I for sure want to be a part of it,” Bridges stated. “I feel like everybody else wants everybody to stay together.”

Miller echoed that view while noting the business realities of the league. “That’s the goal, to have everybody stay here,” the rookie said. “But unfortunately, it’s the game.”

For now, the Hornets are intent on maintaining focus as the February deadline nears. “We hear it, we see it all,” Miller added. “Can’t really let that faze us. Just stay locked in with your brothers.”
