ISTANBUL, Turkey — August 8, 2025: Former NBA second-round pick Maxwell Lewis has signed with Tofaş for the 2025-26 campaign, the Turkish Basketball Super League club announced in a recent press release.

The agreement was finalized in July but was made public on Friday. Lewis, 22, was selected 40th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2023 NBA Draft after three seasons at Pepperdine.

The 6’7″ forward appeared in 34 games for the Lakers as a rookie, totaling 103 minutes, and spent most of the 2023-24 season with the South Bay Lakers in the G League, where he averaged 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 blocks across 28 contests.

Lewis opened 2024-25 with seven more NBA games for Los Angeles and 10 G League outings before being traded to Brooklyn in December as part of the D’Angelo Russell/Dorian Finney-Smith deal. He fractured his tibia during his Nets debut and was limited to 21 appearances, posting 5.3 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.2 minutes while shooting .422 from the field, .380 from three and .700 at the line.

Brooklyn waived Lewis in June ahead of his 2025-26 salary guarantee date, leaving the Nets with a $100,000 cap hit tied to a partial guarantee on his minimum contract.
