The Dallas Mavericks have released guard D’Moi Hodge just days before the team’s training camp, according to the NBA’s official transaction log.
Hodge, 26, had signed a non-guaranteed deal with Dallas earlier this month that was expected to include Exhibit 10 language. By waiving him now, the Mavericks avoid any financial commitment heading into camp.
The 6’4″ wing went undrafted out of Missouri in 2023 and subsequently landed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. He appeared in seven NBA games last season, averaging 2.0 points and 0.7 assists in 5.9 minutes per outing.
Hodge spent most of 2023-24 in the G League, splitting 30 games between the South Bay Lakers and the Rip City Remix. He posted averages of 12.6 points, 4.6 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.6 assists during that stretch.
He also played overseas last year for Aris Thessaloniki in Greece, where he recorded 7.1 points, 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals across 15 EuroCup contests.
Keith Smith of Spotrac reports that Hodge is expected to join the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ NBA G League affiliate. Should he remain with the Legends for at least 60 days, he would qualify for a bonus worth up to $85,300.
