The Dallas Mavericks are not entertaining offers for veteran center Daniel Gafford, according to a Nov. 9 report by Marc Stein in The Stein Line.
Gafford, 27, signed a three-year, $54 million extension during the offseason, a move that immediately drew interest from rival clubs. Front-office officials, however, have shown “no interest” in moving him, Stein wrote.
One key reason is the continuing health trouble of third-year big man Dereck Lively II. Lively has appeared in just three games this season because of a knee sprain and is listed as doubtful for Monday’s contest. He was limited to 36 games last year.
The Mavericks have stumbled to a 3-7 start despite a schedule heavy on home dates. While that record could push management to consider a rebuild, the club controls only one of its own first-round picks between now and 2030—its 2026 selection, widely regarded as part of a strong draft class.
Gafford has dealt with a right ankle sprain but has logged five appearances in 2025-26, averaging 8.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over 19.6 minutes. Although those numbers are down from the previous two seasons, Stein described the athletic rim-protector as one of Dallas’s most appealing trade assets.
