The Dallas Mavericks have waived guards Dennis Smith Jr. and Dalano Banton, along with forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, the organization announced.

Each player was signed to a non-guaranteed training-camp deal. Banton’s agreement contained Exhibit 9 and Exhibit 10 provisions, making him eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 if he reports to the Texas Legends and remains with Dallas’s G League affiliate for at least 60 days. Smith and Robinson-Earl were on Exhibit 9 contracts designed to protect the club financially in the event of injury, a scenario the Mavericks avoided.

The roster moves point to Dallas retaining guards Dante Exum and Brandon Williams on standard contracts. Exum’s deal is fully guaranteed, though he is currently sidelined with a right knee injury. Williams, whose 2025-26 salary includes a partial $200,000 guarantee, has continued to earn front-office praise after moving up from a two-way contract late last season.

Banton, selected in the second round of the 2021 draft, has appeared in 216 NBA games with Toronto, Boston and Portland. He averaged 8.3 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds across 67 contests last season. Robinson-Earl, also drafted in the 2021 second round, played 66 games for New Orleans in 2023-24, posting 6.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.

All three free agents are expected to draw interest from G League affiliates and possibly other NBA teams before opening night.
