Dallas, TX — The Dallas Mavericks have no plans to put Kyrie Irving on the trade block as the NBA’s transaction chatter intensifies, according to ESPN reporter Tim MacMahon.

MacMahon said on his NBA podcast that team leadership is “not interested” in dealing the All-Star guard. Irving declined his player option this summer, then signed a new three-year contract that keeps him under team control through the 2026-27 season. The deal alone complicates any midseason trade, but MacMahon emphasized that Dallas’ stance is driven by strategy, not logistics.

While Irving is off limits, MacMahon noted that the Mavericks are weighing the possibility of trading forward Anthony Davis. He described a Davis deal as “real” and potentially “likely,” contingent on how the club performs over the next several weeks.

Dallas has struggled in Davis’ absence, yet still views Irving as a cornerstone for the franchise’s immediate future. Last season Irving averaged 24.7 points and nearly five assists per game and remains one of the team’s primary late-game creators. There is no official timetable for his return from an ACL injury.
