The list of potential trade partners for Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga is shrinking as the NBA’s Feb. 5 deadline approaches.

Who’s out: The Phoenix Suns, once viewed as a logical destination, have cooled on pursuing the 21-year-old, according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Shams Charania.

Who’s still watching: League sources say the Dallas Mavericks remain interested, but primarily as part of a larger concept that also involves Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis. Whether Dallas would pursue Kuminga in a separate deal is unclear given the club’s current roster structure and salary-cap limitations.

The Lakers have likewise shown some level of interest, team and league sources told The Athletic, yet there is no sign of substantive dialogue with Golden State. At this stage, the Lakers’ involvement is described more as due diligence than an active negotiation.

Other rumored options thinning:

  • Golden State has been loosely linked to Michael Porter Jr., but a team source told The Athletic that no meaningful discussions have taken place with the Brooklyn Nets, and ESPN reports the Warriors have not seriously revisited Porter talks in more than a month.
  • The New Orleans Pelicans continue to turn away inquiries on Trey Murphy III and have shown no indication they would swap him for Kuminga.

With fewer suitors and limited leverage, the Warriors will soon have to decide whether to hold their young forward or move him before the deadline.
