Anthony Davis plans to pursue a new contract with the Dallas Mavericks this summer and will push for the same agreement if he is dealt elsewhere, according to NBA sources cited by Grant Afseth of DallasHoopsJournal.
The 30-year-old forward becomes eligible in August for a four-year, $275 million maximum extension. He is earning $54.1 million this season, has $58.5 million guaranteed for 2026-27 and holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28.
Afseth reported that the Golden State Warriors, Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks have expressed interest in acquiring Davis. Dallas is listening to offers but will not trade him without a significant return, league sources said.
Davis’ availability remains a concern. Limited to 16 games this season, he is averaging 20.5 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.6 blocks while shooting 52.1 percent from the field. He injured his knee on Christmas Day against Golden State and could miss additional time.
Since arriving in last season’s blockbuster deal that sent Luka Dončić out of Dallas, Davis has appeared in only 25 games for the Mavericks, producing at his usual level but struggling to stay on the floor.
The Mavericks are also gauging the market for Daniel Gafford, Klay Thompson and D’Angelo Russell following the dismissal of general manager Nico Harrison, Afseth added.
