The New York Knicks have reached a non-guaranteed agreement with free-agent wing Matt Ryan, positioning the 28-year-old sharpshooter to join the club when training camp opens, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

Ryan is already familiar with New York’s system. He spent most of the 2024-25 season on the Knicks’ roster, first under a non-guaranteed contract and later on a two-way deal, before being waived on March 1. During that stretch he appeared in 19 games, logging 68 total minutes—mostly in late-game situations—and recording 28 points and eight rebounds.

Since making his NBA debut in April 2022, the 6-foot-7 wing has played 82 regular-season contests, establishing himself primarily as a perimeter threat with a career three-point percentage of 40.2%. With four years of NBA service now accrued, he is no longer eligible for a two-way contract; any spot he earns must come via a standard deal.

The Knicks are operating under hard-cap restrictions and currently project to have just one open standard roster slot unless a trade sheds salary. Ryan will contend for that job against veterans Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon, and Garrison Mathews, all of whom are also expected to be in camp.

SNY’s Ian Begley first reported on Monday that New York was considering inviting Ryan to camp.
