Las Vegas — Fraud and theft charges against longtime NBA forward Marcus Morris were dismissed on Wednesday after he repaid $265,000 in outstanding gambling markers to two Las Vegas casinos.

KLAS-TV reported that court filings show Morris, 35, obtained credit in 2024 by writing checks that later bounced. The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino extended him $115,000 in May 2024, while the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino provided $150,000 the following month.

Prosecutors had filed two felony counts in each incident: drawing or passing a check worth $1,200 or more with intent to defraud, and theft of $100,000 or more.

Morris was taken into custody last month at a South Florida airport after officials learned the markers remained unpaid. He spent roughly 51 hours in jail before posting bond.

In Instagram posts last week, the veteran forward said he has used casino markers for years and never intended to dodge repayment. “I’d pay anything to stay out of jail,” he wrote, calling the experience a lesson learned. He added that no cash left the casino floors because markers must be played on-site and criticized both properties for pursuing criminal action instead of reaching out to him directly.

Morris has played for eight NBA teams since entering the league in 2011 and finished the 2023/24 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He went unsigned last season.
