Guard Malik Beasley is back in Detroit and receptive to another stint with the Pistons, according to Robert Snell of The Detroit News.
Snell reported that the 6-foot-4 veteran has settled a $38,000 rent debt and moved back into his downtown apartment. Beasley, currently an unsigned free agent, is open to re-signing with Detroit for the 2025-26 season.
Beasley’s offseason has been complicated by a federal gambling probe. While he is no longer viewed as a target, investigators still consider him a possible subject, a factor that league sources say has slowed interest around the NBA.
On the court, the 27-year-old delivered a career year in 2024-25. He appeared in all 82 games, averaged 16.3 points in just under 28 minutes, connected on 41.6 percent of his three-point attempts and finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
Beasley’s scoring helped the Pistons post a 44-38 record and secure their first playoff berth in several seasons. Detroit can bring him back using Non-Bird rights on a deal worth up to $7.2 million.
The Cavaliers, Knicks and Timberwolves have also been linked to Beasley, who has suited up for six franchises—the Nuggets, Timberwolves, Jazz, Lakers, Bucks and Pistons—over his nine-year career.
