Desmond Bane scored 30 points to propel the Orlando Magic past the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday in Minneapolis, delivering one of Orlando’s most decisive wins of the season. Minnesota focused on taking away Bane’s three-point shot—he went 0-for-5 from deep—but the sixth-year wing countered by attacking the paint, hitting 10-of-12 inside the arc and converting all 10 free throws.
Bane said he now feels fully settled with his new club after a cautious start. “I don’t think there’s any more thinking or second-guessing what’s needed of me,” he said. “I know night in and night out what the team needs.”
Da Silva embraces shifting role
Second-year forward Tristan Da Silva has averaged 12.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0 steal in eight games since the All-Star break. Against Minnesota he added 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, finishing plus-24 in 31 minutes. Head coach Jamahl Mosley praised Da Silva’s ability to move between the starting lineup and the bench, calling it “a testament to his professionalism and work ethic.”
Banchero’s boards key transition game
Paolo Banchero contributed 25 points, 15 rebounds and three assists, though he committed five turnovers. Mosley highlighted the former All-Star’s defensive rebounding, saying it sparks Orlando’s transition offense by allowing the team to push against an unset defense.
Isaac out with knee soreness
Reserve big man Jonathan Isaac missed his second straight contest because of left knee soreness. Mosley described the issue as “lingering” and said the club is monitoring it closely to prevent further problems.
The victory keeps Orlando in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
