Luka Doncic will travel to Europe for specialized care on the Grade 2 hamstring strain he sustained last week, according to ESPN insider Shams Charania. The move aims to accelerate his rehabilitation ahead of the postseason.
The All-Star guard’s choice followed consultations with his personal physicians and the Los Angeles Lakers’ medical staff. He was diagnosed with the injury on Friday, but the team has not issued a firm timetable for his return. Independent medical specialists generally place recovery from a Grade 2 hamstring strain in the three-to-six-week range.
Los Angeles, which cannot drop below the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference, is already dealing with a depleted backcourt. Austin Reaves was recently ruled out for four to six weeks because of an oblique injury, leaving head coach Darvin Ham short on perimeter options as the first round approaches.
No further updates on Doncic’s status were made available.
