LOS ANGELES — After the Lakers’ 127-116 road loss to the Clippers on Thursday night, LeBron James said he is unfazed by an ESPN story that described tension between him and team governor Jeanie Buss.

“I don’t really care about the reports,” James told reporters, adding that he views his original goal with the franchise as already met. “When I came here it was about restoring excellence. We won a championship. That’s what mattered to me.”

The 41-year-old forward rejected the idea that his stint in Los Angeles should be judged through the lens of front-office politics, saying his focus has always been on honoring the organization “with respect, honor, dignity and loyalty.”

James also shrugged off the latest round of trade speculation. “I’m good,” he said.

Buss publicly responded to the ESPN report, calling it unfair to involve James in family matters and expressing gratitude for his contributions to the franchise. First-year head coach JJ Redick echoed that support, labeling it a privilege to coach the league’s all-time leading scorer.

James closed the topic by noting that outside opinions do not keep him awake at night. “If you know me personally, that’s all that matters,” he said.
