Los Angeles — LeBron James may step on the court for the first time this season as soon as Tuesday night, according to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

The report indicates the 40-year-old forward is considering playing when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Utah Jazz at Crypto.com Arena. Los Angeles then has a four-day break before facing the Jazz again on the road, offering a second possible debut date.

James has been sidelined since training camp with sciatica on his right side. He practiced last week with the South Bay Lakers, the club’s G League affiliate, and multiple outlets have described his return as imminent.

Despite his absence, the Lakers improved to 10-4 after Saturday’s lopsided win in Milwaukee. Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have led the team’s offense, while head coach JJ Redick, now in his second season, continues to guide the early success.

The Lakers are eager to see how the league’s all-time leading scorer will boost an already strong start.
