November 12, 2025 — The Los Angeles Lakers sent LeBron James to their South Bay Lakers affiliate on Thursday so the forward can participate in a full practice, including five-on-five work.

James, 40, has yet to appear this season while treating sciatica on his right side. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the temporary G League assignment is the first of his NBA career and is designed solely to give him a controlled workout before returning to the main roster. Charania previously reported that the four-time MVP and the Lakers were eyeing a mid-November debut, and the current timeline still matches that target.

Los Angeles has opened the campaign 8–3 behind Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves while waiting for James’ return.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers said point guard Darius Garland sustained a contusion on his surgically repaired left big toe after aggravating the area Monday against Miami. He will sit out Wednesday’s rematch with the Heat but has not been ruled out beyond that game. The club will evaluate him daily.

Brooklyn Nets

Nets center Day’Ron Sharpe missed Tuesday’s meeting with Toronto because of a left glute contusion. Head coach Jordi Fernández described the injury as minor and listed the third-year big man as day-to-day. Rookie forward Danny Wolf was recalled from the G League before Tuesday’s contest and logged his second NBA appearance.

Memphis Grizzlies

Point guard Ja Morant is questionable for Wednesday in Boston due to soreness in his right ankle. Center Zach Edey, recovering from left ankle surgery, has been upgraded from “out” to “doubtful” and could make his season debut as soon as Saturday in Cleveland. “I’ve seen him working on the court,” teammate Kentavious Caldwell-Pope said. “I’m excited for him to be back.”
