Los Angeles — LeBron James would rather avoid his hometown of Akron, Ohio, according to agent Rich Paul, who addressed the topic during an appearance on the “Game Over” podcast released April 4, 2026.

Asked about recent backlash to James’s remarks on various NBA markets, Paul explained that the four-time NBA champion’s feelings are not limited to Memphis or Milwaukee. “Guess where else LeBron don’t want to be? Akron,” Paul said on the show. “He’s from there. He just outgrew it, which is fine.”

James, 41, has spent more than 20 seasons in the league and has frequently spoken about the physical and logistical strain of constant travel. After comments last month that some interpreted as criticism of Memphis, the Los Angeles Lakers star clarified that his frustration was directed at travel arrangements, not the city itself.

Paul suggested that two decades of NBA experience have reshaped James’s perspective on where he prefers to spend his time. The agent acknowledged that the latest comments are likely to draw further scrutiny but maintained that outgrowing certain places is a natural part of life.
