LaVar Ball has returned to walking unaided, unveiling a new prosthetic leg in a pair of Instagram videos released this week, roughly seven months after a diabetes-related infection led to the partial amputation of his right leg.

The 57-year-old founder of Big Baller Brand appeared in front of a Rolls-Royce, declaring, “Big Ballers back, baby. Yes indeed,” while confidently moving on the prosthesis. A second clip shows him exiting a clinic and noting, “I didn’t think I was gonna be moving this fast,” before stepping into an SUV.

Ball endured multiple surgeries and blood transfusions following the December procedure. Writing in a March essay for SLAM magazine, he acknowledged moments when he considered giving up but credited his three sons for motivating him. “I’m the Big Baller. I’m hard to kill. But I must admit that my boys kept me rolling,” he wrote.

In the same piece, Ball urged readers to prioritize regular medical care. “Get your checkups,” he advised. “Do what you’re supposed to do. If you don’t have insurance, go to urgent care. Because I’m going to tell you this, a little amputation and a little of this, it could all have been prevented.”

Ball Family Still Active in Basketball and Beyond

Lonzo Ball played 35 games for the Chicago Bulls last season before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in July. LaMelo Ball recorded a career-best 25.2 points per game for the Charlotte Hornets. LiAngelo Ball has not secured a long-term NBA spot but recently released a rap single titled “Tweaker.”
