NEW YORK — The New York Knicks will be without wing Landry Shamet for at least four weeks after he was diagnosed with a sprained right shoulder, the team confirmed Wednesday.
The injury occurred Saturday in a home game against the Orlando Magic. It affects the same shoulder Shamet dislocated during the 2024 preseason, an injury that kept him out for roughly two months.
Shamet, 28, is on a one-year, non-guaranteed minimum contract and had opened the season in strong form. Through 15 games, he averaged 9.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 20.9 minutes, starting six times while shooting 45.2% from the field and a career-best 42.4% from three-point range.
Medical staff opted for a non-surgical rehabilitation plan, and Shamet has already begun treatment. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks, according to the club.
With Shamet unavailable, head coach Tom Thibodeau is expected to increase minutes for guards Miles McBride, Jordan Clarkson and rookie Tyler Kolek. Kolek logged a season-high 17 minutes Monday against Brooklyn after Shamet was ruled out.
New York holds an open spot on the 15-man roster but remains too close to the second-apron hard cap to add a free agent at this time.
