The Los Angeles Lakers continued to reshape the back end of their training-camp roster by waiving guard Jarron Cumberland and signing guard/forward Tevian Jones to an Exhibit 10 agreement, according to The Athletic.

Roster moves

Cumberland’s departure comes less than a week after he accepted an Exhibit 10 deal created when the club released Arthur Kaluma. That slot now goes to Jones, whose contract carries the same Exhibit 10 designation.

Who is Tevian Jones?

Jones, 25, stands 6-foot-7 and entered the professional ranks undrafted in 2023 after two collegiate seasons at Illinois and three at Southern Utah. As a senior with the Thunderbirds he averaged 17.8 points and 4.4 rebounds.

The California native spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Grand Rapids Gold in the NBA G League, posting 15.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 34.6 percent from three and 73.2 percent at the line.

Jones previously signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in 2023 but was released before the regular season.

Potential G League path

If Los Angeles waives Jones before opening night, he is expected to report to the South Bay Lakers, who obtained his returning rights earlier this month. Like Cumberland and Kaluma, he can earn a bonus of up to $85,300 by spending at least 60 days with the Lakers’ G League affiliate.
