The Los Angeles Lakers have reached a 10-day agreement with guard Kobe Bufkin, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Bufkin, 22, was selected 15th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. After two injury-plagued seasons in Atlanta, he was traded to Brooklyn during the offseason and released before the 2025/26 campaign began.
Healthy this year, the 6’4” guard excelled with the South Bay Lakers, averaging 26.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks over 14 G League games while shooting .519 from the field, .409 from three and .902 at the line. His performance earned him a 10-day stint with the Memphis Grizzlies in November, though he did not appear in a game.
The new contract will pay Bufkin $131,970 and carries an identical cap hit for Los Angeles. Because the Lakers remain pressed against the first-apron hard cap, the signing shifts the earliest date they could add a rest-of-season contract from January 18 to January 28.
If the deal is finalized Monday, Bufkin’s first opportunity to play comes Tuesday night when the Lakers host his former team, the Hawks.
